Virginia May, 98, of Danville, Kentucky, died January 12, 2023, she was born December 17, 1924, to the late Virgil and Irene Crain Lanham, Sr. Virginia was a retired chief deputy circuit clerk for the state of Kentucky for 35 years and served as an Ephraim McDowell Auxiliary volunteer. She was a graduate of Danville High School and attended Centre College and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Samuel H. May Jr., daughter, Jana Irene May Haskins, and brother James Taylor Lanham.
Survivors include her sons, Randall Scott May and Jeffrey (Eveline) Taylor May; a brother, Virgil Lanham Jr., along with four grandchildren; Brian Walker Brown, Amy Brown Whitley, Erin Johnson May (Marc) Roth, Barret (Dawn Chestnut) Lanham May; ten great-grandchildren; Brian Walker Brown II (Mindi), Tanner Ryan Brown, Madison Hope Brown, Karson Hope Whitley and Kamryn Elizabeth Whitley, Maxwell Christian Roth and Ryan Barret Roth, Marilyn Dawn Chestnut-May and Moses Johnson Chestnut-May; and 2 great-great-grandchildren Bryson Michael Walker Brown, and Liliana Marie Brown, all of whom she adored.
The funeral service for Virginia Lanham May will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Danville with Father Joe Chambers officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 16, 2023, from 3-5 p.m., at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. The interment will be at Bellevue Cemetery in Danville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Episcopal Church and the Boyle County Public Library.

Virginia was a part of my life for over fifty years and such a true personality. She had many of us who considered her a friend and will miss her honesty and sense of humor. Randy and Jeff, please accept my condolences. She was one of a kind.
