Steven Shafer, 37, died October 19, 2021 in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born August 13, 1984 in Douglasville, Georgia, son of Richard and Linda Shafer. Steven worked in Quality Assurance for Staples. His perfect day consisted of waking up early, going to the Boyle County Farmers Market where he loved to visit and enjoy the people. Family was important to Steven and he cherished every moment he had with them. Steven loved listening to Opera, and had an immense talent for singing Opera as well. He is predeceased by his brother, Richard Shafer.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his husband, Daniel Collier; father-in-law, Mark (Lorrie) Collier; mother-in-law, Mary Suzanne (Richard) Gomez; a sister-in-law, Rachel (Christian) Key; two brother-in-law’s, Lee (Jennifer) Collier, and Joe Caleb (Morgan) Payne; and seven nieces and nephews, Jacob Shafer, Richard Shafer, Renlee Key, Lincoln Collier, Ashton Collier, Evelyn Collier, and Shelby Payne.
A gathering of friends will be 3 pm to 8 pm, Monday, October 25, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Steven was able to be an organ donor, his heart and organs have saved others lives.

Words can’t express how much our hearts ache for you, Dan and for Steven’s family. May you feel all the love, prayers and comfort from all those that are here for you. I know you have wonderful memories together and may you be able to reflect on those with fondness and celebrate his life on Monday. He’s an amazing man and grateful he has provided life for so many others in need. It shows the kind of person he is. Love you.

Steve was one of my very best friends and co workers for many years we met while working at staples! Even though we lost daily contact in recent years we did check in on each other often ♥️I am heartbroken of his passing and my heart and prayers go out to Dan and family as well as the shafer family hid light will never burn out nor will the impact he left on my life and countless others!

I worked with Steve at Staples when I first joined the company in 2005. He was such a positive team member and a great person just to be around. He will be sorely missed by his extended Staples family.

Steve\’s personality was larger than life. I worked with him at Staples, and only recently learned he had returned to the call center. We were so excited to catch up with each other! His smiling face, amazing voice, and infectious personality will truly be missed. My thoughts are with you during this time.
