Rose Marie Dawson, 85, died peacefully on August 23, 2025. Born on November 2, 1939, in Grandview, Indiana, to the late John and Sallie Sisley. Rose was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many in her community. She is preceded in death by her sons, David (Patty) Dawson, Christopher Allen Dawson, her eight older siblings, and her niece, who was like a sibling.

Rose was a dedicated homemaker, loved gardening, devoted her life to her family, and created a loving home. Her children, granddaughter, and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was an active member of the Centenary Methodist Church, where she participated in the Hope Circle, the Prewitt Sunday School class, and she also served her community as a member of Eastern Star and as a devoted volunteer for Heritage Hospice. Her compassion and commitment to helping others were hallmarks of her character.

Rose is survived by her beloved husband, Rex Dawson; her granddaughter, Alexandrea (Tyler) Deerr; her great-grandchildren, Cora Rose Deerr and Remi Deerr, and a special niece who was like a sister, Patsy Bates. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who will remember her for her generous spirit and unwavering love.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Centenary Methodist Church, with Rev. Chris Morgan officiating. Pallbearers will be Warren Jones, Joe Simpson, Mike Hunt, Don Mullins, Lou Walker, and Jay Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Prewitt Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Centenary Methodist Church.

Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice or the Centenary Methodist Church. Your kindness and support will be greatly appreciated during this difficult time.

  1. Rex and Alex, I am so very sorry. We have been neighbors for 48 years. We love Rose and all the Dawsons! Rose and Rex are so wonderful neighbors.   2. Rex and Alex, Melissa and I are so sorry for your loss of Rose. Such a kind and caring lady. Eight years ago we moved to Danville and were beyond blessed to have Rex and Rose for neighbors. We could not have asked for better people to not only live next to but to call friends. You both came to our wedding when we moved here. We will always consider knowing you a gift from God. May God give you peace and comfort during this time.
