Robert "Bob" W. Severance

August 3, 1944 ~ April 29, 2025
Robert “Bob” W. Severance, 80, died on April 29, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on August 3, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Glenn and Mary Ruth Severance, Bob was a beloved father, an avid naturalist, and an Air Force veteran. He was happiest when riding his motorcycle, spending time in the garden, fishing with a cane pole, and sharing his love of astronomy with family and friends.
A proud Kentucky Colonel, Bob exemplified the values of kindness, hospitality, and unwavering dedication to his family.
He is survived by his sons, Jase (Maris) Severance and Ion (Monica Burns) Severance, and his daughter, Ryana (Sean) Conway, his grandchildren Hagan, Mia, Neal, Cecelia, and Jonathan Tanner, his sister Jerilynn Dale Askew, his former wife Cathy Lally, and cousin Rosie Craggs. They will cherish his memory and the lessons he imparted throughout their lives.
A graveside service to honor his life and service to his country will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2025, at Camp Nelson National Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Grizzell officiating. The United States Air Force and the American Legion Caswell-Saufley Post #18 will provide military honors.
In the spirit of Bob’s love for nature, those who wish to honor his memory are encouraged to spend time outdoors, reflecting on the beauty of the natural world he cherished so deeply. A donation to a local food bank would also be a fitting gesture.
Rest in peace, Bob. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
