Randall Payne

Randall Lee Payne, 72, of Danville, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025. Born on June 12, 1953, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Jean Fitzhugh Payne and the late J.D. Payne. Randall was a cherished son, father, and grandfather, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew him.

He was a dedicated worker in the public works sector, serving with pride in the Street Department for the City of Owensboro. Known for his unwavering positivity, Randall was the person who never complained, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor. He was often seen enjoying bonfires with family, walking through the countryside, and spending cherished moments with his granddaughters. His friendly nature allowed him to form connections with everyone he encountered, including his mailman and every delivery driver, whom he greeted by name.

Randall is survived by his son, Joe (Morgan) Payne, and his daughter, Rachel (Christian) Key, his mother Jean F. Payne, his granddaughter Shelby Payne and Renlee Key, and his siblings Scott Payne, Terry (Bobbi) Payne, and Sharon Harvey.

A celebration of life will be 4 – 6 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2025 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville where family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and the profound impact he had on those around him. The family invites all who knew Randall to join them in remembering a man who loved fiercely and lived simply.

Randall Lee Payne will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to shine through the many lives he touched.

The family suggests donations to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
