Nannie Cox

Nannie Mae Cox, 83, died on October 9, 2023. She was born in Parksville to the late Ivay and Emma Johnson on May 27, 1940. Nannie was a graduate of Parksville High School and was a member of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church of God in Danville. She helped start Community Friends Food Pantry in Junction City. Nannie worked as a bus driver for Bluegrass Transit for over 16 years. Nannie was an avid UK sports fan, especially basketball, and loved to play the guitar. In addition to her parents, Nannie was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert B. Cox, Sr., her son, Elbert B. \"Junior\" Cox, Jr., brothers, H.B. Johnson, Cecil Johnson, Melvin Johnson, James Johnson, and Oscar Paul Johnson, and a sister, Clara Lou Brown.
Nannie is survived by her granddaughters, Haley Elizabeth Cox and Shelby Lynne Cox, daughter-in-law, Judy Cox, many nieces and nephews including Lonnie Coffman and his significant other, Michelle Clements, who cared for her, and her best friend, Susie Bradshaw.
The funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Rev. Jolene Bailey will officiate. Pallbearers will be Lonnie Coffman, Barry Burger, Jerry Bailey, Melvin Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Brad Carrier, Daniel Coffman, Kevin Gordon, and Eric Carrier. Burial will be in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7pm on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. The online guestbook is available at www.stithcares.com.
