Louise Casey Cox

Anna Louise Casey Cox died Friday, April 19, 2019 in Danville, KY. Louise was born July 2, 1934 in Perryville, KY to the late William N. and Bennie Jordan Casey. She was the widow of William J. Miller, Roger J. Couture and George L Cox. Louise was a graduate of Perryville High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Barry University. She retired after 23 years from ICF Kaiser Engineers, where she served as Administrative Services Manager for the Mass Transit System Project in Miami Florida and the Boston Harbour Clean-up Project in Boston, MA; and as the Financial Services Manager for Trident Missile Contract Audits in Arlington, VA. Following retirement, she returned to KY where she enjoyed playing Bridge, “Red Hat” activities and volunteering at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in the Hospital Auxiliary services. Prior to her career at Kaiser, Louise worked as part-owner and book-keeper at George O. Tucker Construction Company; in the Science Department Chemistry Lab at Centre College; and as a floral designer at Toombs Florist in Danville and Ashland Florist in Lexington, KY. A member of the Presbyterian Church in Danville, Louise served on the Budget and Finance Committee, and coordinated bereavement meals and receptions for the congregation. As a former member of the Perryville Presbyterian Church, she served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Treasurer, coordinated Vacation Bible school and Christmas pageants, and organized other special events. Louise also provided support and summer leadership and served as Counselor at the Presbytery’s Burnamwood Church Camp. She was a mentor to, and supported a young girl at Bellewood Children’s Home during the time she was a resident there. In the 1960’s and early 1970’s Louise, along with her husband, Joe Tucker, established the Girl Scout program in the Perryville Community. They organized and lead active Troops for all age groups. They served on the Wilderness Road Girl Scout Council, and Louise volunteered as Camp Nurse at Camp Judy Layne and served as Camp Director at Camp Cardinal during 1970’s. She was a life-long Girl Scout and was proud to be a charter member of the Wilderness Road Granny Girl Scout Troop #1. Louise and Joe and three other couples started the first Western Square Dance club in Boyle County. They recruited 56 individuals for the initial beginner class, and after graduation, formed the “Frontier Whirlers” Club. Louise was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a Kentucky Colonel; and was active in the Boyle County 4-H program, BCHS Band boosters, Perryville PTA, and other programs to support her daughters and their interests and activities. She had a gift for baking and decorating cakes and made many beautiful wedding cakes. Survivors include daughters, Peggy (Ron) Tudor of Lancaster, KY; Nancy (Kent) Glines of Lexington, KY; Dian (Garry) Baker of Francestown, NH; and Madeline Cox of Revere, MA; and sons, George (Kathy) Cox of Colorado Springs, CO; Stephen (Celia) Cox of Atlanta, GA; and Joseph (Susan) Cox of North Kingstown, RI. Grandchildren: Chris Roller, Ben (Sheena) Roller, Justin (Melissa) Campbell, Sara (Bob) Lynn, Casey Hamilton, Manda (Nathan) Sniffen, Levi Stocker, Adam (Mandy) Stocker, and Clay Stocker, Kristi (Tony) Russell, Shannon Rayman, Shane Baker, Shawn Baker, Justin Glines, Jessica Glines, Roneline (Danny) Ramoutarsingh, Thomas Conley, Stephanie Galinger, Tara Haynie, John Mark Cox, Paul Cox, Luke Cox, Brendan Cox, Eric Cox, Brian Cox, Katie Cox, and Kevin Cox; 29 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and spouses, Louise was pre-deceased by a sister, Betty Casey Hundley, and a great granddaughter, Elizabeth Joy Roller. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday at The Presbyterian Church with Rev. Caroline Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville.  Pall bearers are Chris Roller, Ben Roller, Justin Campbell, Sara Lynn, Adam Stocker, and Clay Stocker. Visitation will be 5- 8 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, condolences to the Wilderness Road Girl Scout Council camp fund, the EMRMC Hospital Auxiliary, or the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
