Louellen Turner

louellen turner
Louellen Turner, 63, died April 28, 2022. She was born September 20, 1958, in Louisville, daughter of the late Roy Lee and Margaret Phillips Singleton. Louellen was an avid gardener who planted seeds of love, compassion, laughter, and generosity through her personal faith and infectious smile. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family and spending time with grandson Teagan. One challenge Louellen eagerly took on for Teagan was the fine art of raising chickens. Louellen was a difference maker. She gave generously of her time and resources to causes for which she cared deeply, including The American Cancer Society, the Heart of Kentucky United Way, and the Annual EG Plummer Run & Walk (supporting the high school athletic teams). Nearest to her heart was the Alum Springs Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. As a Christian, Louellen ensured spending time in prayer, reading the Bible, tithing, and supporting her church were a priority. God’s love, through the church, strengthened her each day. Adventure and laughter were two things Louellen believed in. You bring the adventure, and she brought the laughter. She loved to travel and spend time on the beach with her family and seeing some of the world’s greatest wonders such as the Grand Canyon with friends. Everyone could see the world through that beautiful smile. Louellen brought much beauty to the world through her servant’s heart. She was a leader and gave much to the Danville community as an administrative assistant to the Danville Ind. Schools, where she graduated High School. For her service, she was named the Outstanding Office Professional of the Year in 2011, a statewide honor given by the Kentucky Association of School Administrators. She was nominated by the entire school district leadership team. She later retired from Danville School Central Office. Louellen lived each moment giving to and helping others grow personally and professionally. Louellen was a strong believer in “every ending has a new beginning.” Heaven-side, Louellen gave generously—the gift of life by donating her organs so that others might live. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers Charles (Betty) and James Bugg. She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Terry Lee Turner; daughter, Erica Dawn (Chris) Wilson; son, Kevin Lee Turner ((Jessie McGirr); grandson, Teagan Lee Wilson; sister, Virginia (Jerry) Dismuke; sister-in-law, Vadaina Faye Bugg; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Alum Springs Baptist Church in Junction City. The Rev. Zack Lawson and Bro. Jimmy Perkins will officiate followed by a burial service at the Junction City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Turner, Steven Bugg, Gary Bugg, Charles Bugg, Chris Wilson, David Adams, Jim Caldwell, and Junior Worthington. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Abell, Teagan Wilson, Jerry Dismuke, EG Plummer, Rhonda Caldwell, Brenda Chadwell, Evelyn Jones, Linda Lewis, Georgetta Covey, David Davis, Rebel Wisner, and Jessie Greer. Guestbook

  1. I remember many days with Louellen in our younger school days. She was a special person. Prayers for comfort and healing through this horrible time.

  2. What a beautiful tribute. What a beautiful person. Praying for God to provide you strength and peace for the coming days.

  3. I’ve known Louellen since our high school days, I had a class with her in the class were several girls who were picking on me and bullying. Sweet Louellen was the only one who stuck with me and was my friend. I’m sure it would have been easier to just stay away from me but that wasn’t her way. I’m 65 years old and I’ve never forgotten what she did. She was just so kind and beautiful inside and out. My condolences to all her loved ones she was so special and you were so blessed to have had her. I pray God bless you all.

  4. Louellen was such a wonderful person. I worked with her at Watson\’s back in the day and she was always a joy and had that beautiful smile on her face. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

  5. It is a blessing to have known Lou Ellen. I worked with her at Watson\’s also. Never kept her faith to herself and I am thankful for that. No matter how bad she felt physically she always had that beautiful smile. Prayers for comfort to all.
