Born in: Schweinfurt, Germany
Resided in: Danville, Kentucky

Irmgard (Irma or Oma) G. Harris, 90, died at home on January 29, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on December 19, 1934, to the late Fritz and Anna Katharina Englert in Shweinfurt, Germany.  Irma met her husband, the late James L. Harris while he was stationed in Germany.  Irma took pride in being an Army wife and homemaker.  She loved taking care of her family, her home, was an excellent cook and could make her knitting needles fly to create the most beautiful creations.  Irma was active in The Women of the Moose in Harker Heights, Texas before moving to Kentucky.  She would brag to anyone that would listen that she made her Citizenship in Austin, Texas.  In addition to her parents and husband, Irma was predeceased by a daughter, Karen J. Jones, a son, Kevin J. Harris, one sister and six brothers.

Irma was a people person and was always smiling with a positive word for everyone.  She was a little spitfire and once you met her you never forgot her.  She has a reputation in the community as an “ear boxer” … if you knew her then you know.

Irma is survived by her daughter, Loretta (Ronald) Brand, a son, Roark (Brenda) Harris, nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.  A Celebration of Life will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville.
