Henry William ‘Bill’ Hale, 87, died Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was born in Casey County on December 5, 1930 to the late William David and Alice Linnie Lane Hale. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary. Bill was a 1947 graduate of Junction City High School. He owned and operated Bill Hale Auto Sales and Perryville Pawn Shop. Bill attended Immanuel Baptist Church. Bill also worked at Ford Motors in Arizona and retired from Toyota on Nicholasville. In both positions, he was honored as top salesman for many years. He loved to travel, and he and his wife visited all 50 states and many foreign countries including his two favorite, Israel and Germany. Bill loved to laugh and enjoyed being with people.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Henry Hale Jr., a step-son, Denny Woodrum; a daughter, Rita Payne; a step-daughter, Margaret Ann Green; six brothers and sisters, Howard Hale, Hattie Raines, Herman Hale, Homer Hale, Hester Vermillion and Hubert Hale; a grandson, John Colyer Jr., a niece, Linda Guiles and a nephew, Butch Hale.
He is survived by a son, Gary(Sandy) Hale of Colorado Springs; a sister, Helen Hale of Ft. Myers, Florida; six grandchildren, Aleesha (Jeff) Reynolds, Jerry (Jennifer) Colyer, Jennifer Hale, William Hale, Kim Heydlauff, Deborah Hale; two step-grandchildren, Chris Hoover and Markeeta Hazlett; 14 great-grandchildren, Zac Colyer, Kristalynne Reynolds, Cody Colyer, Chelsee Colyer, Nick Carrier, Cyann Colyer, Russ Carrier, Henry Hayes, Hayden Hayes, Harrison Hayes, Caleb Hale, Evelyn Hale, Kayden Kirklin, Karter Kirklin; eighteen nieces and nephews, Connie (Garry) Stevens, Karen (John) Caddell, Shirley (Gordon) Sheron, Irvan (Helen) Raines, Mitchell (Wanda) Raines, Paul Hale, Garnett Hale, Ernest Hale, Michael Hale, Suzie Wright, Debbie (George) Sullivan, Sherry (Jim) Clement, Ronnie (Kim) Hale, Terry (Jack) Steward, Vickie (Jim) Barnes, Phyllis (Jon) Wilner, Ricky Hale and Stevie (Maria) Hale.
The graveside service will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Liberty. Rev. Harold Best will officiate. Pallbearers will be Gary Hale, Aleesha Reynolds, Jerry Colyer, Kristalynne Reynolds, Shawn Stevens and Garry Stevens. Honorary pallbearers will be Rita Browning, Alicia Jacobs, Jessica Jacobs, Veanita Smith, Gina Webb, Staff of McDowell Place, Karen Caddell and grandchildren.Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Stith Funeral home prior to the graveside service. Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
