Ruby Gail Ganns, a beloved mother and cherished member of the Danville community, passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 70. Born on November 18, 1954, in Danville, KY, to the late William and Ruby Cloud Letcher. Along with her parents she is proceeded in death by her husband, Thomas Allen Ganns and by her brothers, Cornell Letcher and Larry Letcher.
Gail joined the church at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Carter. She remained faithful to the 1st Baptist Church until 1997, she then joined St. James AME Church where she served there until 2017 when she decided to go back to her first love, 1st Baptist, 2nd and Walnut, where she was excited to do what she loved serving the church through ushering the people in the sanctuary.
Gail never met a preacher she didn’t love and support. Gail was known for singing the song Victory is Mine.
She is survived by her daughter, Tina Marie (Darnell) Prewitt, her son, Anthony “Papoose” Letcher, and her brother, Norman “Scrapper” (Terrie) Letcher, her grandchildren Destiny Elmore, Daja Elmore, and Jaylan Letcher, great grandchildren Deenia, Damyia, Dazyia, Marquis, Jayden, Jayce, Jaxson, and A’zariyah. Gail was known for her boisterous personality, contagious smile, and unwavering dedication to her family.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the First Baptist Church, 2nd & Walnut with Rev. Keith Mayes officiating. Visitation will by 5 – 8 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2024 at the church. Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery, pallbearers will be George Cloud, Billy Richardson, Orestes Richardson, Steven Mays, Elmer Ellis, William Pittman, Robbie Cloud and Kenny Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. William Jenkins, Otis Ford, Gary Ford, Greg Payne, Charles Ford and Darnell Prewitt. For condolences and to share memories please visit www.stithcares.com
