David Bibb

David Allen Bibb, 84 of Danville died on March 28, 2024. Born on October 29, 1939, in Jessamine County to the late Marvin Tinsley and Blanche Dean Bibb. He was a 1957 graduate of Danville High School. David was a dedicated employee of The Kroger Company for an impressive 33 years and 3 months with the majority of those years as store manager in both Danville and Harrodsburg before his retirement on May 1, 1999.
A devout member and former deacon of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, he was deeply involved in the church community. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Danville Country Club for 40 years. Family and friends were an important part of David’s life and he never hesitated to lend help in a time of need. He had a unique sense of humor and a giving spirit and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his wife of 62 years Elizabeth Potter Bibb, his son Michael Allen (Melissa) Bibb, grandchildren Matthew Allen (Madeline) Bibb, Miles Evans Bibb, Elizabeth Claire Bibb, great-grandson Henry Allen Bibb, as well as his brothers Gayle (Phyllis) Bibb, Ronald (Becky) Bibb, Donald (Cheryl) Bibb and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., April 3, 2024, at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church with Rev Basil Hall and Dr. Tommy Valentine. Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service and burial in Bellevue Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and Gideons International.

David was such a good man and a class act. He aways took time to help me through out my career. Prayers for Elizabeth and the Bibb family.
Brother-in-love, I will miss hearing “hi sug” when I called with questions, about the good old days, to which he always had the answer.
We have so many fun memories spending time in Danville with you and your family.

Sorry to hear about the passing of my friend Davey. Whenever I saw him he had a smile on his face and was genuinely concerned about my well being. He never seemed to talk about himself–even when I tried to get him to do so. He was just a wonderful man with a wonderful family. He’ll certainly be missed in Danville and Central Kentucky.

It was my privilege to have been a part of David’s Kroger work life for many years. As a new Store Manager I benefited immensely from his experience. To Elizabeth and Family you have lost a good Husband and Father and Grandfather. Enjoy all the good Memories🙏🏻❤️
So sorry for your loss. Bibb was always fun to be around. One of my favorites at Kroger. Remember the days of him calling for your numbers on Sunday mornings if you were making him late for breakfast. He will be missed.

We just left not long ago from the church. You looked as distinguished as you always have. David you would have been so proud of your family gathered around you and each other. You brought a lot of Old friends and extended family together to pay you completely earned respects.
You were one of a few Mentors in my life that not only taught me the nuances of the Grocery business, but instilled in me truth about living. “act don’t react ” that one kept me out of trouble many times.
So many of your sayings could be heard among the people you influenced throughout your days down here. The poem Stairway to Paridise in the bulletin is wonderful.

Kroger was my first job and Mr. Bibb was the manager. He always treated me well. My prayers are with all the family. May God comfort and strengthen you.
