Darrell Nathan Long, 69, of Richmond, formerly of Livermore, and later Madisonville, Kentucky, died Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Danville. Born in Livermore, Kentucky, on September 20, 1955, he was the son of the late Finley and Julia Wells Long. Darrell worked in manufacturing for Speed Queen and previously owned the Dinky Diner in Madisonville. He was a member of Hanson Baptist Church. He loved cooking, making bread, wedding cakes, pies, and candy at Christmas. While he was known for his food, he was loved for his heart. Always welcoming anyone who needed a place to stay. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Eaton (Darrell), and nephew Ben Hudson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Faye Rudolph Long of 45 years, his daughters, Ashley Beth (Rusty) Boggs, Amber Bretney (Joseph Kimbrew) Long, grandchildren A’mya Long, Elijah Long, Emmalise Long, Adam Long, Seth Boggs and Allison Boggs, two brothers, Ronnie (Gaynell) Long and Michael (Robin) Long, a sister, Janice Hudson, sister in laws Ginger (John) Trigg, Sue Howard, Bobbie (Ronnie) Downey, close cousins Kathy Jo Wagoner and Jim Stephens and nieces and nephews, including Chris Hudson, Michelle (Donnie) Hambrick, Darrin (Laura) Eaton and Bryant (Tanya) Long, Lisa Hancock, Kevin Long, Stephen (Holly) Long, Elizabeth (Daniel) Lockley, Stacy (Shannon) Howard, Joshanna Phillips, Mark (Jackie) Downey, Carla (Mike) Hawthorne, Trey (Allison) Williamson, Mary (Mark) Switzer along with several very special great nieces and nephews he helped to raise.
Private services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Sunrise Children’s Home.
