Amelia Nichols died January 6th, 2021 at age 88. She was born to William Douglas and Winnie Oldham Green on May 28, 1932 in Gallatin, TN where she grew up and graduated from Gallatin High School. She attended Centre College and graduated in 1954 with a BA degree. While at Centre she met her future husband, John B. Nichols III, of Danville who predeceased her in 2014 after almost sixty years of marriage. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a member of the Danville Presbyterian Church. She was an active volunteer with the church, library, Centre, and the Humane Society. Pets, bird watching, hiking and tennis were her hobbies, and she was hostess for The Empty Nest Bed & Breakfast in her home for twenty years. Survivors are her three children, Kitty (Ben) Sears of Nashville, Ann Reid (Jeff) Guild of Chattanooga and Alex Nichols of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Katie (Bryan) Forsyth, Nathan (Kendall) Sears, Nick Bradford, Patrick Bradford and two great grandchildren, Camille, and Luca Forsyth. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society or the Salvation Army.   1. Amelia was a true friend in every way. We shared a lot of good times, good conversations, supported each other in important ways, and had many laughs. She brought delight in many thoughtful ways. She was a treasure to me.

  2. David & I are so sorry to lose ms Nichols. David enjoyed their long friendship; discussing birds, rocks & the outdoors. He will miss his visits with this fine, kind and gracious lady.

  3. My relationship with her as a “cousin-in-law” will be treasured always, as well as her wonderful hospitality when I could visit, both while in college and when I was in town for visits and/or class reunions.

  4. We are saddened to hear of Amelia\’s passing. She was such a personal and distinguished personality. Until the pandemic we used meet and share a glass of wine and good conversation with her and John B. We will miss her as we have also missed John B. Our prayers go out to each family member.

  5. AMELIA WAS A GOOD NEIGHBOR AND A VERY GOOD AND KIND PERSON I GAVE HER COOKIES SHE GAVE ME TOMATOES SHE GREW AND STARTS OF FLOWERS. SHE LOVED BEING IN THE YARD TAKING CARE OF HER PLANTS..I LOVED SEEING HER OUT THERE, AND ALL THE TALKS WE HAD . I WILL MISS HER GREATLY.
