Alexis James Kotila

Alexis James Kotila was granted her angel wings at the young age of 19 on January 14, 2017. She passed away very peacefully in her sleep. Her days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she touched in tremendous ways throughout her short, yet very memorable life. Rett Syndrome may have taken over her body and her voice, but nothing was stronger than her personality, smile, laughter and free spirit. Every day was filled with smiles and love. She was our world. She loved all kinds of music, enjoyed her favorite teenage tv shows, and cherished spending time with all of the special people in her life. We will never forget that smile. It told you everything you needed to know about her. That smile said, \"I am happy and I am loved.\" Alexis was the strongest person I have ever had the privilege of knowing. She was truly amazing. I really did raise my hero. She taught me patience. She taught me unconditional love. She taught me to see the world through silent, happy eyes. Alexis leaves behind her mother, Melissa LeGault, her brother, Jakob Kotila, her maternal grandparents, Daniel and Susan LeGault, and her uncles, Brian (Christy) LeGault and James Ridout. Her second Mom at school Tina Henry and her Boyle County family, her fellow students who loved and protected her every day, her very best friend and cousin she adored, Kiley Shae Lynn Ridout, our very large Rett Syndrome community, and many, many other close friends and family members from coast to coast. As well as her paternal family in Tennessee and Arkansas. She is joining her father in heaven, Ronald James Kotila, Jr. As well as her great grandmother, great grandfather and a couple great uncles and a great aunt. At this time, we are planning a celebration of life to be held at a later date. We miss her dearly and our hearts are broken. There will never be a day that goes by that we don\'t think of my precious daughter. If you see me, don\'t be afraid to share a memory of Alexis and mention that you think of her too. She had that effect on everyone she met.
