Zelda Ann Reid, cherished wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 16, 1935, in Danville, to the late John and Ramona McKinney Sewell. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a beloved member of the community. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Nancy Reid.

Zelda was known for her unwavering love for her family, which was the cornerstone of her life. She had a passion for music of all kinds and an incredible sense of humor that brought joy to everyone around her. As a dedicated homemaker, Zelda created a warm and loving environment for her loved ones, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Zelda is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Sam Reid, her children Karen (Tommy) Taylor, Kathy Reid, Sam (Janet) Reid, Jr., and Kim (Keith) Webb, her sister Nancy Gordon, her treasured grandchildren Samantha Taylor (Colby) Ernest, Spencer (Regan) Taylor, Patrick (Kelsey) Reid, Adam Reid, Morgan Baker, Benjamin (Nicole) Webb, and Kelly Webb, her great- grandchildren Ellie Ernest, Lorelai Ernest, Samuel Cash Ernest, Reid Taylor, Rowan Taylor, Zelda Reid, Hayden Baker, and Adalynn Baker will forever cherish the time they spent together. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Friday, August 29, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville, Kentucky, with Tom Shafer officiating.

Pallbearers will be Keith Webb, Spencer Taylor, Adam Reid, Patrick Reid, Ben Webb, Colby Ernest, and Jeff Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Harmon, Dr. Robert Fowler, Keith Lyle, John Gordon, and Rob Larson.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Friday prior to the service.

Zelda Ann Reid will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. We celebrate her life and the joy she brought to our lives.

  12. I remember meeting Ms. Zelda when I came up for a hurricane. She was so kind and had such a great sense of humor. It was an honor to meet such a loving and compassionate matriarch of the family. Sending tons of prayers, love and hugs. I am confident Zelda is in the “music” section up in heaven, rejoicing with friends and family that had gone before her!

  13. I have so many wonderful memories of Miss Zelda. She and my mother were the best of friends. She has always brought smiles and laughter to those around her. She’ll be greatly missed. Prayers for comfort and peace for Dr. Sam and his beautiful family. Much love to all!

  14. Dr. Reid, Karen and family… I remember Miss Reid fondly from my early years in Danville… She was always so nice to speak and I know she loved my brother Jorge! May God bring peace to her and to the rest of you. I’m sorry I will not be able to attend the service for Mrs. Reid today but know that I am thinking of you and giving you big hugs!
