William Marshall Baughman, 72, gained his wings on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Ephriam McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY.  He was born on January 13, 1953, in Halls Gap, KY, to the late Leslie Rubin and Mollie Marie Baughman.  William Baughman, affectionately referred to as “Willie B” was a graduate of Danville High School class of 1971 and later received a bachelor’s degree from Morehead State University in social work.  Soon after, Willie was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad.  Years later, Willie would retire from the railroad as a conductor leaving him plenty of time for his hobbies and interests such as hunting, auto mechanics, and woodworking to name a few.  It is common knowledge that Willie loved to fish and that was his true passion.  He would spend countless hours and even days doing what he loved often with his brother, Sammy and grandson, Christian.  You could count on him for some beautiful filets of crappie, bass, or bluegill.

Willie was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church, Stanford, Kentucky, where he was baptized and served as a trustee.  Willie would often do handiwork around the church as well as show off some of his culinary skills to the members when they would host dinners.  Willie believed in helping even when his health would cause a hindrance.

He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Lamont Johnson, and a brother, Jimmy Lee Baughman.  He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Tameka DeShawn Baughman Colon, Sabrina Michelle George, Angel Sherrice Hodgens, and William Cody Richey, sisters, Bettie Walker (the late Roy), Barbara Menifee, Patricia Baughman, Rachel Isbell (Wayne), and Phyllis Baughman, brothers, Robert Baughman (Danielle), Sammy Baughman and Leslie Rubin Baughman, Jr., and numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at First Missionary Baptist in Stanford.  Rev. Floyd Raglin and Rev. Jerry Wilkinson will officiate.  Visitation will be from 11 am to 12 pm prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Crab Orchard Cemetery.
