Long-time Utica resident Walter Richard Juteau died on 22 May 2018, two days after his 102nd birthday. Mr. Juteau was born in Newport, NY, in 1916, the son of Felix Napoleon Juteau and Mary Elizabeth Delaurier. He served as a staff sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He participated in the battle for Iwo Jima and in the occupation of Japan following the War. In 1946, he married Nina June “Dolly” Marvin who died in 1993. He was an avid fisherman and camper. A salesman for most of his life, he joined the circulation department at the Observer-Dispatch in 1993 at the age of 77 and continued in that department until he was 90. Mr. Juteau is survived by daughter Victoria Scarborough (Milton) and by sons David Walter (Thelma), Walter Richard and Eugene Rene (Laura). He also leaves behind three grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several devoted nieces and nephews.
