Truman Bottom

Truman “Pappy” Andrew Bottom, 80, of Wilmore, Kentucky, died Friday, April 14, 2023. Born August 29, 1942, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Bertha Edna Massie Bottom. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He worked in transportation and was a patient aid for Kentucky State Hospital then later transferred to Eastern State Hospital. He and his wife have lived in Wilmore, Kentucky for over 44 years. Truman attended of Mount Freedom Baptist Church.
Truman, also known as “Pappy”, lived a big and enjoyable life. He loved watching all Westerns and traveling out west. He loved sports including soccer and the Cincinnati Reds. He loved animals and they loved him as he would feed wild animals by hand, namely a raccoon. He had many birdhouses and he loved to sit on his front porch while watching the many birds come to his yard. Truman’s jokester personality was seen and felt by those around them. Sunday dinners were a big deal for the Bottom household. The entire family was always in attendance, and he didn’t hesitate to offer food to anyone else who wanted to partake. Above all else, ‘Pappy” treasured his family and grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Truman is predeceased by his brother, Larry David Bottom.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia McKee Bottom; daughters, Jo Abshire and Darla Southerland; son, Truman Bottom; and brother, Marshall McDonald Bottom. His surviving grandchildren are Michael (Laura) Southerland, Alex Southerland, Tanner Southerland, Breannah Bottom., Kaitlyn Bottom, Makenna Bottom, Tra Abshire, Andrew Abshire and Hannah Tackett along with two great-grandchildren.
Visitation be held at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City at 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.., Wednesday, April 19th. The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 20th at Sith Funeral Home, Junction City. Nathan Elliott will be the officiant.
The burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville, Kentucky. Military honors will conducted by American Legion: Saufley Post #18.
