Sharon Young

Sharon Lynn Young, 83 of Junction City, died July 13, 2026. She was born on August 30, 1942, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William and Marjorie Calvert. She is predeceased by a brother, Joseph William Calvert.

She graduated as the salutatorian from Calhoun High School in 1960, where she was also a Basketball Queen candidate. She later graduated from Bowling Green Business University in Bowling Green, KY. Sharon spent many fulfilling years as a devoted homemaker, where she nurtured a warm and loving household and was a devoted Christian, wife and mother. Sharon was a wonderful seamstress and bookkeeper and loved to crochet and embroidery. She was a Sunday School teacher at Junction City First Baptist Church where she was a member and served as church secretary for many years.

She is survived by her husband Floyd Thomas “Tom” Young, of whom she would have celebrated 64 years with on August 19th, her daughters, Lynn (Mike) Harmon and Carol Young, her adored grandchildren: Monica (Mahmoud) Morris, Corwin (Jess) Vanhook, Cameron Vanhook and Elizabeth Harmon and great-grandchildren Aiden Al-Saloum, Hamoody Al-Saloum, Nolan Vanhook, and Finn Vanhook, sister, Elizabeth Sue Dickinson, nephews, Joseph Calvert and Jonathan Calvert, and a niece, Krista Jo (Jeff) Taylor.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on July 17, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on July 16, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Junction City. Rev. Choe Sergent will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Mahmoud Al Saloum, Andy Greene, David Greene, Jed Greene, Mike Harmon and Eric Young with honorary pallbearers being Corwin Vanhook, Cameron Vanhook and Isaac Young. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson Cemetery.
