Roger Compton

Roger L. Compton, 72, of Herrington Lake died Monday, March 11, 2019 following a short illness. Born August 19, 1946 in Campbellsville he was the son of Henry Oscar and Gertie Lee England Compton.
Roger served in the U.S. Navy over 20 years with several tours in Vietnam and finished his career as the Navy Recruiter in Danville. Roger was an owner of Bluegrass Parts Warehouse then Partsmart, Bluegrass Truck Stop and Diesel Tech with his partners Jerry Germann and David Williams. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 28 F. & A.M, the Oleika Shrine Temple, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of the Boyle County Fair Board and President for approximately 10 years. He was a past commodore of the Herrington Lake Yacht Club. Roger loved to travel, especially to see his island friends in Grand Turk, and share his Herrington Lake with family and friends on his boat, the Jolly Roger.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Cook Compton and their children, Robin (Vince) Tucker, Danville, Roger L. (Angela) Compton Jr., Campbellsville, Greg (Anne) Compton, Chattanooga, Mary Compton Crawford, Texas, Rebecca Anne (Roger) Maybrier, Louisville, Jon (Sarah) Kuchenbrod, Danville, Regina (the late Chris) Kuchenbrod, Danville and the late Michael Kuchenbrod; eleven grandchildren, Addison Compton, Hannah Emily (Jonathan) Moore, Brittany Faith (Joshua Humble) O\'Ryan, Briana Tucker, Connor Tucker, Michael, Mackenzie, Owen and Cora Kuchenbrod, Christian (Samantha) Kuchenbrod and Caitlin (Seth) Eckert and seven great-grandchildren, Jameson Moore, Mason Moore, Peyton Humble, Johnny Roger Humble, Cullen Kuchenbrod, Annabelle Eckert and Amelia Eckert; two sisters, Patricia Ann “Sissy” Compton, Virginia and Carol Sue (Mike) Parker, Winchester, Ky.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2019, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vince Tucker, Michael Kuchenbrod, Christian Kuchenbrod, Jonathan Moore, Roger Maybrier, Jon Kuchenbrod and Eric Dubena. The honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Perry, Drew Feistritzer, Steve Hays, Dr. David Williams, Jerry Germann, David WIlliams, Jim Johnson and Ervin Farmer. Military honors will be provided by the Caswell Saufley American Legion Post # 19 and the United States Navy. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p. m. Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to the Shriner\'s Children’s Hospital.
