Ricky Allen Courtney, 64, died Wednesday, June 16, 2021. He was born in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky on January 3, 1957, to the late Arthur Thomas and Julia Margaret Smith Courtney. Ricky was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and served as custodian there for many years. As Chaplin he dedicated a great deal of time delivering the Word of God within the Jail Ministry. Ricky enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sitting on the front porch. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son Baretta Reese Courtney; two sisters Libby Courtney Hamilton and Donna Lonaker; five brothers Bruce Courtney, Robert Courtney, Willard Courtney, Charles “Popeye” Courtney, and Joe Courtney. He is survived by his wife Sherry Courtney; two daughters Julie Margaret (Lindsey Michael) Courtney Buntain, and Loretta Rawls; a son Chad Rick (Jessilyn) Courtney; three sisters Geneva Hutchison, Joyce Lowery, and Barbara Hamilton; and nine grandchildren Payton Rawls, Kourtney Rhayne Horne, Hunter Buntain, Tanner Buntain, Logan Buntain, Adailyn Courtney, Chailyn Courtney, Emberilyn Courtney, and Maverick Courtney; and a brother in-law Steve Lonaker. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, June 21, 2021 at Gethsemane Baptist Church. The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Hershel McKinley and Reverend Kyle Stachewicz will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Chad Courtney, Joseph Cannon, Hunter Buntain, Tanner Buntain, Logan Butain, and Lindsey Buntain. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Sheene, Barbara Sue Reynolds, Angel Courtney, Chuck Ricker, Maliki Abney, Emily Beckett, and Isaac Abney. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
