Richard Philmore Cook, 87, of Danville died Tuesday, February 7, 2017. He is the widower of Ruth Gordon Cook. Born April 18, 1929 in Jessamine County, he is the son of the late Franklin Nathaniel and Lila Mae McGee Cook. He was a mechanic and worked for Central Supply & Equipment Co. and Horky Construction Co. Richard was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Navy. He loved restoring antique gasoline engines and attending gasoline engine shows. He also enjoyed country music concerts. He was predeceased by four sisters, Frances Durham, Lois Cook, Margaret Leigh, Mildred League, and two brothers, Arthur and Ray Cook.
He is survived by a son, Jerry R. (Darlene) Cook of Danville, two daughters, Carolyn (John) Ellis of Danville, and Peggi (Bill) Fillingim of Stanford;, a sister Nancy (Kenny) Jett of Frankfort, seven grandchildren,Kristi Cook (Tim) Blakemore, David (Leslie) Cook, Jonathan (Trisha) Ellis, Jeremy (Crystal) Ellis, Jordan (Anna) Ellis, Brian (Melissa) Clarkson, Eric (Ashley) Clarkson, ten great-grandchildren, HayleyThrasher, Joseph Blakemore, Xavier Ellis, Lex Ellis, Trulea ellis, Quincy Ellis, Anika Ellis, Andrew Ellis, Ryan Clarkson, Charlie Clarkson, and a great great-grandchild, Kian Clarkson.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2017 at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. The pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kristi Blakemore. David Cook, Jonathan Ellis, Jeremy Ellis, Jordan Ellis, Brian Clarkson and Eric Clarkson. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m.,Thursday, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City.. Memorial donations are suggested to Sadie\'s Animal Rescue or Sacred Selections Adoption Organization.
