Prentice Derotha Shewmaker

Prentice Derotha Shewmaker, 85, died Saturday, November 25, 2017. Born June 18, 1932 in Perryville, he was the son of the late Prentice and Irene Emma Hays Shewmaker. He graduated from Perryville High School in 1950 and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a self-employed barber in Danville for over 40 years and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Talmadge Glenn “Tuck” Shewmaker.
Prentice is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda McCormick Shewmaker; a sister, Betty Cummins of Harrodsburg and his nieces and nephews, John Shewmaker, Sandra Lowry, Suzetta (David) Phelps, Tammy Shewmaker, Devon Shewmaker and Robert Roney and great-nephews, Jordan and Joseph Shewmaker.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Rev. Tim Mathis will officiate. Prentice will be buried with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post # 18 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robbie Roney, John Shewmaker, Jordan Shewmaker, Joseph Shewmaker, Devon Shewmaker and Robert Hamlin. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Boyle County EMS Emp. Fund c/o Brad Ellis or First Baptist Church.

Linda, So sorry to hear of your loss of your beloved Prentice. I read his obit and know that my heart and prayers will hold you close in the next few days as you deal with a new way of life for yourself. It\’s always comforting to know that Christians just changed from here, the only realm we know, to heaven , which is our hope, and is our goal to spend eternity with God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. He will send the Holy Spirit to comfort you along with your friends and family. Know I love you and surround you with prayers of comfort. Love and hugs forever, Wanda .
