Phyllis Baker Swope, 83, of Lancaster died peacefully on March 31, 2026. She was born on October 23, 1942, in Parksville, Kentucky to the late William Carl and Ruby Green Baker. Phyllis spent her life in service to her family and her community and leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. Phyllis was preceded in death by her brothers Morris Baker, William Carl Baker, Jr., Skip Baker, her best friend Flo Tewmey, and her son-in-law Randy Huffman.

Phyllis dedicated her career as an Electronic Technician at Bell South Telephone Company, from which she retired. Phyllis was known for her adventurous spirit, especially her love for treasure hunting at the annual 127 Yard Sale with her best friend. She approached all aspects of life with elegance and grace, always expecting the best from herself and those around her. Her forgiving nature and loving heart made her a cherished figure among her family and friends.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, William Alvin Swope, her children Karen Huffman, Phillip Alvin Swope, and John William Swope, her brothers Ted (Betty) Baker and Kenny Baker, her grandchildren, Aaron (Rachel) Huffman, Miranda (Chase) Northman, Katie (Harold) Lee, Tyler (Izzy) Swope, Ethan Swope, and Ava Swope, her great-grandchildren, Isaac and Elias Huffman, and several nieces and nephews, who all brought her immense joy.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville to celebrate her life. Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2026, also at Stith Funeral Home, Danville, allowing all who knew and loved her an opportunity to pay their respects. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Swope, Aaron Huffman, Tyler Swope, Ethan Swope, Harold Lee, Chase Northman. Honorary Pallbearers include Caleb Ellington, Cason Ellington, Miranda Northman, Katie Lee, Ava Swope, Rachel Huffman, and Izzy Swope.

We remember Phyllis for her unwavering love, her nurturing spirit, and the countless memories she has gifted us. She will be profoundly missed but forever held in our hearts.

Just as Cassie mentioned she was a very sweet kind and oh so classy lady. I love each of you dearly and my thoughts and prayers will be with each of you.   4. My older cousin Phyllis. She never knew how beautiful she was, inside and out. I trailed her around like a puppy dog when I was a little girl. She never minded and was always kind to me. We held each other’s secrets as I got older. She respected me for who I was. In every way she was good, kind, loving and, yes, classy.
