Phillip Norris Armstrong, Jr., 90, died on November 9, 2019 in Danville. Born on January 12, 1929 in Waukesha, WI to the late Phillip Norris and Porter Hudson Armstrong, Sr. Norris served in the U.S. Army and was the floor manager for Peoples Warehouse for many years. He was the longest member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was very active in the church. He loved his family and always took care of them. He is predeceased by his wife, Cecily Parkton Armstrong, a son, Tom Prentice, two sisters, Barbara Wold and Margaret Campbell, and a son-in-law, Ken Shevlin.
He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia (Chris) Kaelin of Lexington and Susan Shevlin of Flemington, NJ; a daughter-in-law, Judi Prentice, a brother-in-law, Dr. Sid Wold; six grandchildren, Brian Shevlin, Keith Shevlin, Erin Taylor, Kelly Planck, Kevin Prentice, Peyton Kaelin; seven great-grandchildren, Connor Taylor, Dylan Taylor, Abigail Shevlin, Ben Shevlin, Kinsey Sullivan, Maggie Planck, Lily Planck; two nieces, Margaret (Bob Wittenbach) Campbell of West Chester, OH, Gretchen (Tom Martin) Wold of New York City, NY and three nephews, Bill (Donna) Campbell of Winchester, Mike Campbell of Louisville and Chris Wold of Plano, TX.
The funeral service will be 12 pm, Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Centenary United Methodist Church, Danville. Rev. Chris Morgan and Rev. Sean Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 am – 12 pm. Memorial donations are suggested to the Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Home or Centenary United Methodist Church.
