Patricia Ponder Smith, 73, died Monday, February 10, 2020. She was born in Lexington, Kentucky on October 19, 1946 to the late Seldon and Edna Ponder. Pat served as a substitute teacher for Danville Independent School District and as a Million Dollar Real Estate Agent for Coldwell Banker Real Estate in Danville. In 2002 she was the first woman to run for Mayor of Danville. Pat was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. In Addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Jack M. Smith and her brother, Roy Ponder.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Carla) Smith and Jennifer (Michael) Hopkins; one brother, Joe Ponder and one granddaughter, Sarah Hopkins.
The funeral service will be at 11am, Monday, February 17, 2020 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be 1pm – 5pm, Sunday, February 16 at Stith Funeral Home, Danville. Memorial donations are suggested to Alzheimer\'s Support Network, 660 Tamiami Trail N # 21, Naples, FL 34102.

Pat and I were in the same Sunday School class at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. She was a delightful and interesting person. I certainly can remember when Robert and Jennifer were born. I am praying for Robert and Jennifer and send blessings

Pat was so generous with our Ladies Club by doing her Historical Play. She was amazing in her details & had us all so very interested. We are so sorry that You have lost your dynamic Mom. We are grateful we got to meet & enjoy her.
