Nella Lee (Nellie) Martin

Nella Lee ‘Nellie’ Tucker Martin, 101, died Sunday, December 12, 2021. She was born in Wayne County, Ky. on February 1, 1920, daughter of the late Harvey and Mollie Frances Denney Tucker. Nellie accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior at 13 years of age and was a member of Clay Hill Baptist Church in Wayne County for many years. She is currently a member Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville. She was a homemaker and loved caring for her family. Nellie loved to sew and enjoyed reading, gardening, and working word search puzzles. She was a wonderful seamstress and quilter. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Roy A. Martin, Sr.; sons, Joel Martin, Roy Martin, Jr., Donald D. Martin; two brothers, Fordie Tucker and Gene Tucker and two sisters, Estella Tucker and Flonnie Dick and a grandson, Jason Dewayne Martin.
She is survived by a son, Joey (Vicki) Martin of Danville; a daughter, Molly (Terry) Stevens of Danville; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Martin of Hustonville; an “adopted” daughter, Sissi Hamilton; nine grandchildren, Steven (Melissa) Martin, Connie (Chad) Gunterman, Allen (Kristie) Martin, Ellen (TJ) Burdine, Donna (Robert) Cummins, Tim (Jennifer) Martin, Jeremiah (Kelly) Stevens, Jacob Stevens and Matthew Stevens; 19 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren; two sisters, Oreda Tucker and Thelma Denney and brother, Fred Tucker of Wayne County.
Visitation will be 11am -1pm, Friday, December 17, 2021, at Gethsemane Baptist Church prior to the funeral service at 1pm, Friday, December 17, 2021. Pastor Joe Vest will officiate. The pallbearers will be Steven Martin, Tim Martin, Allen Martin, Robert Cummins, Jeremiah Stevens, Aram Martin, Kolton Winfield and Dakota Stevens. Burial will be at 1pm, Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Clay Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Wayne County, Kentucky. Memorials are suggested to the New Hope Classical Cottage School in care of New Hope Baptist Church, Stanford, Ky.; The Cherish Friends Ministry at Gethsemane Baptist Church or the Bluegrass Hospice Care, 800 Rose St. Lexington, Ky.

This is for grand daughter Ellen (Martin) Berdine. I was sorry to read you had lost your grandmother, but how wonderful that you had her all those years! When I read the obit and saw your name, I was reminded of having you in class at BCHS, and also AA/Homeroom for 4 yrs, I think. Someone had told me a few years back that you live in Tennessee now and have three children. I think you and Rachel McKinley and several others were in the same class. Special memories of that group.
