March 7, 1945 ~ June 3, 2026

Nora Mildred Underwood, 81, died on June 3, 2026. She was born on March 7, 1945, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky to the late Jesse David Tharpe and Nellie Broughton. She was predeceased by her husband, Jay Allen “Shorty” Underwood, four sisters, Christine Prochnow, Sylvia Tharpe, Wilma Lucas and Violet Jepson and three brothers, Jesse Tharpe, Dukie Tharpe and Everett Tharpe.

Nora drew strength and comfort from her faith, being a devoted member of Indian Hills and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She cherished reading her Bible. She retired from Palm Beach where she worked as a seamstress and Whirlpool and Matsushita as an assembly line worker. A lover of life’s little joys, she enjoyed watching “The Price Is Right,” fishing with her husband, Jay “Shorty” Underwood who preceded her in death, and creating lasting memories on vacations in Panama City with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters: Jayalita McCormack(Bill), Malissa Renfrow(Brad), and Lisa Underwood(Larry Cheatham), her grandchildren Zack Underwood(Amanda), Devin Underwood(Katelyn), Jacob Webb, Chad Underwood, and Molly McCormack, great-grandchildren Jaelynn Underwood, Cordelia Underwood, Winterlynn Underwood and Weston Underwood, who will carry her memory in their hearts.

A visitation will be held at Stith Funeral Home in Danville, Kentucky, on June 8, 2026, from 4PM to 6PM.
