Mattie Mae Anderson Elder, 98, died January 24, 2017, at Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Born November 11, 1919 in Garrard Co., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Edna Mae Graham Anderson. She was a seamstress and hand sewer at Palm Beach Co. for over 30 years. Mattie was the widow of Dewey Bryant Elder and a member of the Fourth Street Church of God. She spent her retirement years also helping others as a sitter. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dorothy Curtsinger a grandson, Johnny Curtsinger, two sisters, Susie Shearer and Geraldine Gilpin and three brothers, Logan, Wesley and Buck Anderson. Mattie is survived by two sisters, Mildred Casey and Clara Goodin, both of Junction City, and two grandchildren, Melissa Segal and Melinda Byrd of Harrodsburg, several great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Friday at Bellevue Cemetery. Rev. Wendell Douglas will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
