Marvon Leroy Smith, 79, of Danville, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017. Born October 5, 1937 in Syracuse, Indiana, he was the son of Walter Robert and Mable Miller Smith. He worked for the Chrysler Corporation for many years in the Dodge division and had his own home repair business. He was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. He loved family, his church, and was a civil war history enthusiast. He was big supporter of Danville High School’s football and soccer programs and loved University of Kentucky basketball.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Sue Smith of Danville, son Steve Smith of Lancaster, daughter Susan Smith (Craig) Cornish of Murfreesboro, TN, a sister, Marcia Grabert of St. Louis, MO, and two grandchildren, Sheldon (Meaghan Jenkins) and Sierra Smith. The funeral service will be held 4 p.m., Friday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 2 – 4 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Sheldon Smith, Craig Cornish, Stephen Glovak, Michael Wilson, John Oliver, Paul Elwyn, Jonah Ursprung and Jim Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be the Milestone Sunday School Class and Steve Smith. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Heart Association. Private family burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Visitation: 2-4 pm Friday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church
Funeral Service: 4 pm, Friday at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church
