Marvin William “Billy” Lowry, 83 died on January 15, 2025. He was born on December 16, 1941, in Danville, to the late Marvin and Lorena Lowry. He was predeceased by his parents, and his wife Lynn Brown Lowry, he lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to his family and his craft as a carpenter.

Billy was known for his exceptional skills in historic preservation, working tirelessly as a self-employed carpenter restoring properties. His passion for building extended beyond his profession. He took great pride in the homes and spaces he preserved, The Owsley House, Cambus-Kenneth Farm, McDowell House in Danville, White House at Camp Nelson National, Merchants Row in Perryville, and Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, and numerous projects in central Kentucky. Billy was recognized by the Boyle Landmark Trust for Historic Preservation in 2019 with the JT Goggins Award, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of seeing his work.

He is survived by his daughter, Dodi (Mike) Wilson, his sons, Jeff (Lisa) Lowry and Scott (Heidi) Lowry, his grandchildren Corey (Emily) Wilson, Christian (Kayley) Wilson, Tyler Lowry, Caleb Lowry, and Olivia Lowry, a great-grandson William Walker Wilson, step-grandchildren James Luttrell, Ashley Luttrell Sagracy, step-great-grandchildren Tasha Wilson, Byron Luttrell, Bree Luttrell, Natalie Cochran, Gabby Cochran, Logan Cochran, and 2 step great-great-grandchildren and his siblings Ollie Minor, Dixie Mullins, Sylvia (Sonny) Norvell, Peggy (Pete) Yankee, Linda Speakes, and Ray (Bonnie) Lowry, who will forever cherish the memories of his love, wisdom, and guidance. Marvin’s legacy will continue through his family, who will remember him not only as a skilled craftsman but also as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville with Mike Wilson officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tuesday prior to the service at Stith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Scott Lowry, Caleb Lowry, Christian Wilson, Ronnie Brown, Josh Thomas, and David Douglas. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Perryville with his wife.

Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
