Martha Marie Carmickle

Martha Marie Walker Carmickle, 90, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, December 4, 2021 surrounded by her children. She was born in Junction City on August 24, 1931 to the late Henry Thomas and Freida Catherine Feistritzer Walker. Martha was of Catholic faith and attended St. Patricks Catholic Church in Junction City as a child. She attended Junction City Schools. Martha loved taking care of her family, always putting their needs before her own. She loved cooking and providing for her family. Martha loved the fellowship of friends and family. She enjoyed quilting and helping raise tobacco on the farm. Martha made a quilt by hand for everybody. She was a member of the Lancaster Road Homemakers Club. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, of 70 years, Charles Carmickle; a daughter, Terri Renae Carmickle; brothers, William (infant), David, Frank, and Tommy Walker. She is survived by three sons, Barry Wayne Carmickle (Arneda) of Lexington, Jerry Ray Carmickle (Diane) of Radcliffe, Ronnie Carmickle of Danville; a daughter, Karen Sue Johnston of Lexington; eight sisters, Rosalie Van Vooren of Louisville, Henrietta Rutherford of Danville, Isabel Carter (Donnie) of Danville, Dorothy Botti (Barry) of Texas, Mary Frances Heighton (Kevin) of Junction City, Clara Walker of Texas, Patricia Gay (Thomas) of California; Freida Minor (Marion) of Danville; two grandchildren, Jason and Lindsay Carmickle; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Jeffrey Carmickle and a host of extended family and friends. The funeral service will be 12pm, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Danville. Father Anthony McLaughlin will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Carter, David Carter, Kevin Heighton, Marion Minor, Mike Moore, and John Marshall. Visitation will be 10 am – 12 pm, prior to the service at the church Tuesday.
