Lonnie Glenn Cornish Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on September 23, 1946, in Harrodsburg, Kentucky to the late Worley and Ethielyn Cornish. Lonnie dedicated his life to his family and his friends. He will be remembered for his big loving heart, his willingness to help anyone in need, his passion for sports, particularly NASCAR, UK Football and Basketball, the Bengals, and how much he enjoyed car shows.

Lonnie proudly served his country in the Army before a career at Whirlpool, later Matsushita where he never met a stranger and all were friends. He was a true jack of all trades, always ready to lend a hand and share his expertise with those around him.

Lonnie is survived by his devoted spouse, Terry Qualls Cornish; his son, Lonnie Cornish Jr.; his daughters, Glenda (Chad) Gingrich and Lisa (J.T.) Wagoner; his grandchildren, Trevor Gingrich, Meghan Gingrich, Kerr Riddle, Bret Riddle, and LaVanna Riddle, and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on June 19, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville, KY, starting at 10 a.m. till noon. The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 12 p.m. with his nephew Zachary Young officiating. Lonnie will be buried at Bellevue Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Caswell-Saufley Post #18. Pallbearers will be Trevor Gingrich, Kerr Riddle, Bret Riddle, John Rogers, Chad Gingrich, and J.T. Wagoner.

  4. What a great guy Lonnie was. He helped train me as a Die Setter at Whirlpool in the late 70s. Always good to work with and in a good humor. My sincere condolences to his family, he was certainly a big part of the Whirlpool family.

  6. Lonnie Cornish is my brother in law,( More like a brother ) Married to my sister Terry for 39 years this month. Lonnie had no siblings but married into family of thirteen siblings . Every family member loves Lonnie & his big heart ❤️ He never said the word NO to family or friends that needed help, working on a auto , home repair, just needed his advice he was always available. Lonnie was also a very loving & good man. His time to leave us was way to short 😢
    He knew he was so loved & cared for by Terry ❤️It was just his time & God was ready to take him to heaven . Rest in peace my wonderful brother in law & I will always love you 😘 No worry about Terry we will take care of her 🙏Love to you , Linda Lou
