Linda Shewmaker

Linda McCormick Shewmaker, 84, died on January 25, 2024.  She was born in Mt. Sterling to the late Roger and Golden McCormick on July 11, 1939.  She was a graduate of Mt. Sterling High School and later graduated from Miller-Draughon Business College in Cincinnati.  Linda worked in the engineering department for AT&T until her retirement in 1989.  Linda loved researching family genealogy and was a diehard UK fan.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.  Linda was a charter member of the Danville Dulcimers. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Prentice Shewmaker, brothers, William Harrison \"Jack\" McCormick and Joe Dean McCormick, and a niece Jane McCormick. Linda is survived by many nieces and nephews including William Brent (Norma) McCormick and Jaquelene Ditmer, a great-niece Brandy McCormick a special cousin Betty Brock, and a special friend Brenda Bash. The funeral service will be at 12 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville.  Rev. Tim Mathis will officiate.  Pallbearers will be John Shewmaker, William Andrew McCormick, Kirk Camron McCormick, Richard Caldwell, Israel Hoskins, Devon Shewmaker, and Buss Belcher.  Burial will be at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 - 7 pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Linda\'s caregivers, Beatrice Caldwell, Bernice McLaurine, Lecia Nicole Hoskins, and Amanda Mullins. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heritage Hospice Inc.
