Leslie Ann Noel Lay, 46, of Danville, passed away on January 27, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky, after a brief illness. She was born on August 8, 1978, in Danville, to the late Angie Noel Russell. Leslie was also lovingly raised by her grandfather, the late Guy Noel, and her uncle, the late Guy Coontz, both of whom served as father figures in her life. She was a cherished daughter, mother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Leslie devoted her career to helping others as part of the Environmental Services Department at Ephraim McDowell with a focus on the Commonwealth Cancer Center, where her compassion and dedication had a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Outside of work, Leslie found joy in cooking, caring for her nephew, and watching Lifetime movies. Her warm spirit, nurturing nature, and love for those around her will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Leslie is survived by her two sons, Jacob Lay and Joseph Lay; her brother, Chris (Erica) Russell; her nephews, Rhett Russell and Jensen Russell; her husband, Eddie Lay; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, also at Stith Funeral Home, with Rev. Jacob Bryant officiating. Pallbearers will include Chris Russell, Jacob Lay, Joseph Lay, Justin King, Willie Bishop, and Ja’Lin Preston. Honorary Pallbearers will be her work family. Following the service, Leslie will be laid to rest beside her mother at Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville, Kentucky.
