Kenneth Lloyd Leathers, 81, of Danville passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023, at his home. He was born in Danville April 18, 1942, to the late Everett and Lillian Leathers. He was a veteran of the United States Army before serving the local and surrounding areas as both an electrician and an electrical inspector. A member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), Ken retired as the Chief Electrical Inspector for the state of Kentucky. Ken was a Christian and spent much of his time as a teacher for several Sunday school classes and Bible studies over the years. He supported missions in Haiti, St. Joseph Indian School, and was an avid supporter for many local pastors. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist church in Danville. Ken loved the Lord, his friends and family, fishing and frog gigging, John Wayne movies, and House of Cheung egg rolls. He was compassionate, had a clear sense of right and wrong, a great sense of humor, and believed in the healing power of arnica. Like Ken’s friend Danny Darst said, “He was a heavy hitter.” Our Chief Low Eye will be missed. Ya ta hey! Ken leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Judy Leathers; children, Sue Leathers-Kleffman, Loren (Greg) Estes and Chris (Adrienne) Leathers;  brothers, Edwin (Sandra) Leathers, Charles (Debra) Wells and Jimmy Hardin; niece, Kim Hayes; nephew, Dan Hayes and great nephew, Zachary Hayes; grandchildren, Chris Lappin, Matt (Sarah) Estes, Katherine Lappin, Noah (Layla) Estes, Miranda (Chris Lee) Flannery, Kensey Flannery, Preslie Leathers, Zander Leathers; great grandchildren, Elliott Lappin, Quorra Lappin, Tre Wade, Liam Lappin, Owen Estes, Finn Estes, Arlo Flannery and Devin Estes. Visitation will be 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Danville. A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023, also at Gethsemane Baptist Church. Officiants will be Rev. Mark Peyton, Rev. Tim Mathis, Bro. Greg Nimmo, Rev. Mike James and Rev. Steve James. Interment will be at Bellevue Cemetery following the funeral service. Serving as pallbearers are Eddie Arnold, John Cox, Wes Hacker, Noah Estes, Greg Estes and Honorary pallbearers are Barry Harmon, Greg Nimmo and Brian Vanderburg.
