Kathleen Hericula Young May, 84, died at home on June 16, 2026. She was born in Danville on November 17, 1941, to the late Charles Thomas and Cartina Perros Young. Kathleen was a graduate of Danville High School where she was a member of the Sub Deb sorority. She worked for Jackson Chair, the Eastern Kentucky Resource Center in Danville, and Farmer’s National Bank.
Kathleen was married to her late husband Tommy May for 43 years. She loved having her family together and cooking them meals. She was an avid reader, particularly mysteries and thrillers. In her younger years she enjoyed watching thrillers and horror movies, but later in life she loved to watch comedies like the “Madea” movies. She loved to sew and draw in her free time. Kathleen was a cat person but loved all animals.
In addition to her parents and husband Kathleen was predeceased by her sister Margaret Young, twin sister, Charlene Young, niece, Rachel Ruth, and nephew, Zane Young.
Kathleen is survived by her son Brian May, daughter, Julie Ryan, granddaughters, Morgan Ryan (Austin Alverson), and Clarice May, great-grandson, Christopher Alverson, brother, Barry Young, and numerous extended family.
Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Bellevue Cemetery. Rev. Jonathan Grizzell will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
