Resided in: Danville, Kentucky

Katherine G. McClure, 94, of Danville, Kentucky, died peacefully at her home on January 22, 2025. Born December 25, 1930, to parents Mary and Lindsey Gibson. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her stepfather Everett Elliott, husband Kenneth McClure, and son-in-law Randy Jones.

Kay enjoyed spending time with family and friends. The thing that gave her the most satisfaction was working. She loved to work and despite having little formal education was very smart and accomplished. She retired from The Advocate Messenger after 25 years as a press operator in the commercial print shop. After retirement, she and her husband Kenneth went on to own and operate McClure’s Printing and Kay’s Tanning Hut for many years. She enjoyed meeting people, laughing, and sharing stories. Later in life she married Danny Curtsinger and enjoyed working and traveling as they explored various interests relating to artifacts and items of historical value. Her life was enriched by these experiences and it brought her great joy. She was active and full of energy and curiosity until suffering a stroke a few years ago. She fought for as long as she could and proved to be a strong and determined woman.

She leaves her faithful companion and watchdog Peppy whom she adored. She is survived by her sister Lillian Elliott, and brother William “Buck” (Shirley) Elliott, and daughters, Mary Kay “Katie” Jones, and Elisha (Jeff Coleman) McClure, grandchildren Tim McClure, Christina (Tom) Walden, Kenneth Matthew Jones, and Daniel Mitchell Jones, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, stepchildren and families.

She is also survived by her husband Danny Curtsinger, and brother-in-law Steve Curtsinger who both cared for her with great love and brought joy and comfort to her in her final years.

The family would like to thank Heritage Hospice for the excellent care provided. Memorial donations are suggested to Heritage Hospice.
