Born in: Junction City, Kentucky
Resided in: Junction City , Kentucky

June Marie McQueary passed away peacefully at her home on March 24, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on May 29, 1937, in Junction City, Kentucky.

She is survived by her loving husband, Albert McQueary, son Alan Johnson, and daughters Terri Kent (Jack) and Traci Wilson (Tony). June was a cherished grandmother to Jenna DeRousse, Cole DeRousse, Ashley Wilson (Will Briant), and Ryan Wilson (Tiffany), and great-grandmother to Cameron Williams, Gabriel Hines, Jonathan Hines, Casey DeRousse, Taylor Cooley, Lucas Cooley, Savannah Briant, Asher Wilson, and Barron Wilson. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Kidd and nieces Rita Gorley, Vicki Vernon, Kathy Shelton, and Kristi Curtsinger.

June was preceded in death by her father, James Cross, and mother, Flossie Cross.

June loved her family. She was her children’s strongest advocate and supporter, a guidepost of unconditional love. To her grandchildren, she extended that love and was a source of solace, encouragement, and, at times, an inciter of mischief (although she would always plead innocent).

Having spent much of her life living next to the train tracks, the sound of a train brought her great comfort. She was proud of her heritage and roots. She loved sharing stories of loved ones who had passed away and making sure that her children and grandchildren knew from where they came.

She loved the outdoors, especially a warm spring day spent on her porch swing and camping with her family, and enjoyed her 16 years spent selling real estate, where she worked with extended family and made lifelong friends.

June loved being frivolous and sharing a laugh, and she loved makeup and lotions. Oh, how she loved makeup. She passed along sage advice to her daughters, such as “Don’t leave home without your eyebrows” and “Cover up those grey roots as long as you can.”

And until the end, she loved Albert, who spoiled her and showed her immeasurable love from the moment they married, until she drew her last breath.

She will be missed beyond measure and loved forever and a day. And we will pass along her stories and keep her memory alive.

The memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City with Don Mudge. Visitation will be from 4 – 6 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home, Junction City.
