Judy Germann

Judy Ann Germann, 81, of Danville, Kentucky, formerly of Altoona, Iowa, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025. She was born on June 29, 1944, in Williston, North Dakota, to the late Art and Agatha Halverson.

Judy was a devoted homemaker, caregiver, and educator who dedicated her life to nurturing her family and inspiring generations of young learners. A graduate of Minot State College in Minot, ND, she began her career teaching elementary education before stepping away to raise her children and support the family business. Later, after moving to Minnesota, she played a vital role in the early lives of her grandchildren, offering them
love, guidance, and stability. In 2002, Judy and her husband relocated to Iowa, where she returned to her passion for
teaching and caregiving, working with young children until her retirement. Children always brought her joy and purpose—she was endlessly energized and amazed by their curiosity and spirit.
A perfect day for Judy was one spent outdoors with her family, enjoying life’s simple pleasures. She had a deep love for animals and always shared her home with beloved cats and dogs. Her nurturing spirit extended to all living things. Judy was a devout Catholic whose faith and commitment to her community shone brightly throughout her life. Her compassion, kindness, and unwavering love left a
lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Germann; her children, Scott (Katie) Germann and Michelle Germann; her sister, Arlene Dragseth; her
grandchildren, Aaron (Jamie) Germann, Ashley Germann, and Justin (Zahra) Germann; and her great-grandchildren, Warren Germann and Juliet Germann, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Danville, with Father Danny Schwendeman officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Judy’s life and the love she so generously shared.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society, honoring Judy’s lifelong love for animals.
