Judith Ann Craig Sellmer, 83, died on June 17, 2025. She was born in Rushville, Indiana, on April 5, 1942, to the late Richard and Gladys Sullivan Craig. Judy was a retired English teacher. She enjoyed golfing and bowling and playing euchre. Judy loved to read, particularly murder mysteries, watch sports and any show where a veterinarian helped animals. In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brother, Richard Craig, and a brother-in-law, Dan Engleton.
Judy is survived by her husband Guy Sellmer, sons, Grant Warren Sellmer and Glenn William (Mary) Sellmer, sister, Mary Jo Engleton, and grandchildren, Kristin Sellmer, Glenn Weston Sellmer, Sylvia Sellmer, and Katherine Sellmer.
Judy was at Ball State studying to be a teacher, I was in 7th grade. There was a buffalo farm somewhere between Indianapolis and Muncie, IN. When we passed the buffalo farm Judy would talk about all the buffali.
One day in English class the teacher had to leave for a few minutes, so to keep us busy she wrote several words on the blackboard and asked us to write the plural of the words. One of the words was “buffalo”. I very quickly volunteered and wrote “buffali” on the blackboard. The other kids kept saying no, no, that’s wrong, it’s “buffaloes”. I informed them that it was NOT wrong because my sister told me it was buffali and she’s going to be a teacher.
Over the years as I repeated the event to Judy, I always told her I was so embarrassed and that she ruined me for life. We always laughed about this story.
I’ll miss Judy more than words can say. Her laughter, love, and presence leave a space no one else can fill.
Judy, was the BEST Aunt ever! She will be so missed!
We have awesome memories that we will always treasure, like all the Thanksgiving dinners Bill & Judy would hostess at their house.
Until we meet again Aunt Judy, love ya Jim & Lisa💜✝️
