John Michael "Mike" Spellacy

John Michael “Mike” Spellacy, 77, of Danville, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2026.  Mike was born on November 9, 1948, in Front Royal, Virginia, to the late Edward Spellacy and the late Lucille Spellacy.

A proud patriot, Mike honorably served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran. Following his military service, he dedicated his life to protecting and serving others. He began his law enforcement career as a detective with the Parkersburg Police Department, later worked for the National Automobile Theft Bureau in Illinois and Kentucky, and concluded his career as a Fire Inspector with the Kentucky State Police.

Outside of his career, Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan who rarely missed cheering on his favorite team. Mike also had a special love for his dogs, and his faithful companion, Jake, held a treasured place in his heart.

Mike is survived by his former wife, Judy Spellacy; nephews, Addam Chipps and David Chipps; niece Megan Arnold; his mother-in-law, Patricia Chipps; and friends who will remember him with love and gratitude.

Mike will be remembered for his dedicated service to his country, his independent spirit, and his unwavering loyalty to those he cared about. His legacy of service and honor will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A receiving of friends will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home, Danville with a memorial service following at 3 p.m.
