John Henry “Junior” Bennett Jr., 94, died on June 20, 2024. Born on September 3, 1929, in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late John and Myrtle Bennett, Sr. He was predeceased by his wife Pearl Bennett, his son Larry Wayne Bennett, his son-in-law Ralph Culp, and his grandson Thomas McFarland Mattingly.

John was a dedicated and hard-working truck driver who tirelessly provided for his family. His strong work ethic and commitment to his loved ones defined his character. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, finding solace and community in his faith. John enjoyed riding horses in his spare time, a passion that brought him peace and connection with nature.

He is survived by his children Evelyn Culp, Tom (Judy) Bennett, Norma (Ronald) Dampier, and Vivian (Roger) Maupin, his brother Vernon (Pam) Bennett, his grandchildren Holly Pennebaker, Emily Renee (Dewayne) Slusher, Johnathan Maupin, Heather (Brad) Amos, Danielle Hatfield, Samantha Bennett, and Craig (Shawn) Foley, his great-grandchildren Maryfaith Slusher, Isaiah Slusher, Dean Maupin, Breanna Layne, Sam Amos, Graydon Amos, Trinity Rechenbach, Briar Rose, Alanna Bennett, and Anna Foley.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Prior to the service, visitaiton will be 11 am – 1 p.m., at Stith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Brad Amos, Rex Alexander, Roger Maupin, Ron Dampier, Aaron Sensabaugh, and Jimmy Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Sue Craddocks and the residents and staff of Morning Pointe. He will be buried at Bellevue Cemetery with his wife.

Memorial donations are suggested to Gethsemane Baptist Church.
