Gerald “Jerry” Boyd, 90, died peacefully on June 18, 2024, with his wife by his side. He was born on March 1, 1934, in Uniontown, PA, to the late Kenneth and Eleanor Boyd. Jerry Boyd was a proud US Army veteran who served his country with honor, reaching the rank of Captain. His commitment to education led him to a successful career as a School Administrator, shaping the minds of countless students and colleagues.
Jerry’s passion for volunteering started with the Constitution Square Festival and many years supporting the Great American Brass Band Festival. His years of coaching left a lasting impact on those around him, inspiring many to strive for excellence and kindness. He will be remembered for his dedication, integrity, and unwavering support for his community.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Jane Scarborough Boyd, daughter Lisa Boyd, and son Chris Boyd, his stepchildren Blake (Diane) Scarborough, and Susan Scarborough (George) Rose, and grandson Connor Rose a beloved husband, father, and dedicated School Administrator who touched the lives of many throughout his lifetime.
The funeral service will be at 4 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2024, at the First Christian Church with Rev. Colby Smith officiating. Prior to the service, a Visitation will be from 1 – 4 p.m. at First Christian Church.
Memorial donations are suggested to First Christian Church, Heritage Hospice, or the Charity of your Choice.

I know Uncle Jerry is celebrating with everyone in Heaven now, enjoying a nice cigar, and many legendary stories. It’s been an honor knowing and loving Uncle Jerry through the years.   12. I was in the 100 Inf. Div in Kentucky when the Division was called to active Duty in 1961. We were called to active duty due to the Cuban missel Crices. Lt. Jerry Boid was part of that call-up as well. Jerry was the EO of A Company, 1st Battalion of the 397 Inf. Reg. I was Field First Sargent of that same A Company. I will never forget the year we spent in Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas. Jerry was an absolute joy to work with. Never a dull moment when he was around. God Speed my Friend. SFC Earl Duff
