Jean Ann Ragland

Jean Ann Ragland, née Richard, of Danville and LaRue County, KY, and New Orleans, LA, passed away on April 8, 2021. Jeanie was born March 13, 1939, to Jules L. and Ethel F. Richard in New Orleans. She was the widow of James Harold Ragland, mother of Chris (Donna) Ragland of Arkansas, and Kim, and Nana of Landry Woodrum, both of Danville. Jeanie and “Rags” married on December 20, 1961. She spent her life as a beloved wife, homemaker, and mother. A truly Southern city girl, she lived on farms in Magnolia and Buffalo, KY, most of her life. She devoted herself to raising her children. She enjoyed a good laugh, playing cards, travel, bowling, playing the piano, spring flowers and fall leaves, puzzles, good books, musicals, and classic movies. But her greatest joys came from her family, especially her “darling Landry.” Her final years were made brighter by the friendship of Jane Snowden and Alicia Hutt. Visitation will be 6pm – 8pm, Monday, April 12, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Funeral service will be at 11am, Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Danville followed by a graveside service at Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Magnolia, KY. Flowers are appreciated, as Jeanie loved her gardens. Memorial donations are suggested to, her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
