Jean Ellen Dean, 59, died November 2, 2021, in Danville. Born April 23,1962 in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late John Robert Holland Sr. and Thelma Jean Kohlmeyer Holland. Jean loved being a member of the Temple Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and learning military history. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Roger Cameron Dean; a granddaughter Emma Smock; and a brother James F. Holland. Jean is survived by a daughter Amy Elizabeth (Joshua) Smock; a son Jeremy Darrell (Julie) Dickerson; seven grandchildren Jayden Smock, Noah Dickerson, Ezra Smock, Johnny Smock ,Carter Dickerson, Forrest Smock ,and Fynn Smock; four sisters, Joyce Ainslie, Janet Evans, June Rexford, and Jody Holland; three brothers, Johnny Holland, Jay Holland, and Jeff Holland. Visitation will be Tuesday November 9, 2021, at 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at Stith Funeral Home in Danville. Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 1 pm. Dr. James McCarroll will officiate. Pallbearers are Joshua Way McCaroll, Joseph Zachary McCaroll, Micah Andrew McCarrol, Jeremy Darrell Dickerson, Joshua Tyler Smock and David Allen Dickerson.   4. Jean I thought we would be playing and loving these grandsons together. Oh my goodness, how their Grandmother loved them. They always told us mother in laws weren’t supposed to get along but we did and we were friends too. You will be missed so very much. Fly high my friend, fly high.

  6. Even though I hadn\’t spent time with Jean in close to 30 years, she will always have a place in my heart. We spent a lot of time together when all the kids were small and when she moved, I really missed her. I\’m happy to know she was active in church and I pray for those she loved and left behind.
