James Allen “Jimmy” Coomer, age 62, of Danville, Kentucky, passed away on March 8, 2025. Born on January 5, 1963, in Danville, to the late Joseph Allen and Lucille Pritchett Coomer. He lived a life characterized by kindness, generosity, and a passion for helping others. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents Frank & Flossie “Ninny” Pritchett, Willie Coomer, and Annie “Mamaw” White.

Jimmy will be remembered fondly for his heart of gold and his deep affection for his family, particularly his nieces and nephews. A skilled electrician in construction, he dedicated his career to ensuring that the work he did made a difference in people’s lives. Outside of his profession, Jimmy found joy in playing his guitar, caring for his beloved pets, and nurturing his garden, showcasing his well-known green thumb.

He is survived by his loving sisters: Judy (Mike) Votaw, Jean (Steve) Sleeper, and Janet (Sam) Souleyrette; his nieces and nephews Jeremy Carpenter, Joey Carpenter, Tyler Montgomery, Hagen Souleyrette, Alex (Courtney) Souleyrette, Amy Burris, Lori (Dave) Baker; great nieces and nephews Austin, Cailyn, Cody, Drake, Briley, Cadence, and Curt. Jimmy held a special place in each of their hearts, and his loss will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home with Steve Sleeper officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., before the service at Stith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be  Tyler Montgomery, Alex Souleyrette, Hagen Souleyrette, Austin Carpenter, and Jeff Quinn, the honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Carpenter. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery.

Jimmy’s warmth and generosity will forever remain in our hearts, and he will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

  9. James was so kind, generous and funny. He loved rock n roll music (80’s), action movies and Reese’s. He was the best, praying for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
