James Michael “Jim” Morley, 75, passed away on November 11, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born in Danville, Kentucky, on August 14, 1950, to the late Stanley and Mary Marshall Morley, Jim built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and a deep appreciation for the people and places he loved.

Jim spent his entire career in the automotive industry in Lexington, where he was known as a talented salesman, respected broker, and trusted advisor. He loved the car business, and his success was measured not only by the deals he made but also by the lifelong friendships he formed with customers and colleagues.

A true water enthusiast, Jim cherished every moment spent on Herrington Lake and the Florida Gulf Coast. Whether behind the wheel of a boat or relaxing on shore, he found peace and joy in the rhythm of the water. Jim enjoyed old country music, good wine, good stories, and the easy laughter shared among friends. His beloved canine companions were always close by.

For more than 30 years, Jim shared his life with his devoted companion, Linda Best. Their partnership was one of deep devotion, mutual respect, and unwavering support. Together, they built a home filled with warmth, humor, adventure, and a love for lake life. Linda’s presence brought Jim tremendous joy, and she remained his constant companion through every season of life.

Guestbook

  1. Our love and sympathy go out to all the Morley family. May the good Lord keep you tightly in the palm of his hand!

  2. One of my Dad’s best friends in life. Jim was always a Class Act. I pray he and Dad are with Uncle Sandy enjoying the Golden Shores.

  3. I’ve known Jim it seems forever. Just an ole school car guy, well respected and admired. We had so much in common-car business-boating-Herrington … lots of stories to share. I actually bought a Mercedes from him back in the 90s… yea our acquaintance goes way back. He’ll be missed.

  4. FOREVER a friend. You always had kind words to me…known you since 80s…Rest in peace say hello to my dad Vince…see you again one day….
.Much love to Linda and Carrie

  5. I spent some time with Jim back in the early 70s… He was off and on Doug Campbell’s roommate at that time. They were great friends and both confirmed the bachelors… I remember great times boating and skiing on Herrington Lake and some fun parties/ bonfires near the water and great music 🎵 playing on Doug’s reel to reel . Lots of great food and spirits too. These were my college years and I was so glad to spend some time with Jim. Gone too soon. Prayers and a comforting hug for his siblings and for everyone who loved Jim.

  6. The world has lost a true gentleman. I have wonderful memories from our times spent together. May the Morley family find comfort in knowing how much Jimmy was loved by all who knew him. Hugs to all of you.

  7. It’s with great sadness that I hear the passing of Jim
Growing up in Boyle County and being on Herringtin Lake as friends was so much fun. Thoughts and prayers to the Morley, family and friends.

  8. Remembering Jim and the many fond memories with Linda at Kamp Kennedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with Linda, Carrie and Family.

  9. Linda,
Joey and I are so sad for your loss. I didn’t know Jim personally but always heard great things about him. Lee always spoke so highly of him. I hope the comfort and love from family and friends carry you through these difficult days ahead.
    Laurie

  10. I regret that I only met Jim once, but even in that short visit his huge personality shone through. It’s easy to see why his loss is so devastating to his family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you as you say your goodbyes to your dear brother. May he rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.
