James ‘Jim’ Lee Beck, Sr., 94, of Danville, died Sunday, May 16, 2021. He was born in Princeton, Kentucky on July 12, 1926 to the late James Thomas and Sarah Jackson Beck. Jim was a graduate of Butler High School and attended the University of Kentucky. Jim served in the United States Navy (Naval Aviation) and was a 32nd degree Mason in the Clinton Lodge #82 in Princeton. He retired from G.T.E in Lexington as a Facilities Manager. Jim was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of the choir. He played softball for the Chevy Chase Church League. Jim enjoyed hunting, and fishing. He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Beck; two sons: Jim Beck, Jr. of Temple, Texas, Joe Dale Beck of Lancaster, Kentucky; a daughter: Marilyn Ross of Danville, Kentucky; a stepson: Clint Hurley of Pineville, Kentucky; three stepdaughters: Christie Leffew of Lexington, Kentucky, Andrea Pfister of Morrow, Ohio, Elizabeth Gay of Danville, Kentucky; a sister, Rose Stallins of Panama, Florida; three grandchildren: Jason Beck, Ryan Beck, Kimberly Neil; four great-grandchildren: Ethan Beck, Asher Beck, Caleb Beck and Cameron Neil. The Funeral Service will be 1 pm, Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Rev. Max Hester and Rev. Basil Hall will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bob Davenport, Jim Leavall, Clay Cessna, Tim Gullett, Bill Jones, Bill Peniston, and Bernard Montgomery. Honorary pallbearers will be Lexington Avenue Baptist Church Sunday School Class and the Mavericks. Visitation will be 11am – 1pm, Thursday, May 20, 2021, prior to the service, at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens in Lexington, Kentucky at 11am, Friday, May 21, 2021. Memorial donations are suggested to Lexington Avenue Baptist Church in Danville.   3. Sorry to hear about James\’ passing. I remember him and Louise in my younger years and always loved the get togethers with the families.

  4. Barbara and the Beck Family, I talked with my mom (Wilma) this morning. She told me of Jim\’s passing. I\’m once again so very thankful the two of you were able to make the trip for Daddy\’s memorial service a couple of years ago. I\’ve known Jim my entire life. He was an outstanding human being with a kind spirit and wonderful sense of humor. My heart goes out to each of you.
